'There is no precedent in the world of killing children by snipers from helicopters '

 Noakhali Correspondent

We have witnessed the July-August revolution. We have seen the Liberation War, but there is no precedent anywhere in the world of killing people by snipers from helicopters, said Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury Swapan, a retired secretary of the Bangladesh government.

He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest at an event held at Pilot High School ground in Begumganj, Noakhali, aimed at promoting Bangladesh’s scouting and co-curricular activities through the "Talent Hunt, Sports Equipment, and Tree Sapling Distribution-2025" program.

He further stated that from August 5 to August 8, there was no government in place. However, our Scouts, Girls’ Guides, BNCC members, and above all, the students maintained the country’s order. That was the best discipline I have ever seen. Because our generation does not tolerate injustice. They do not tolerate fascism. Therefore, we must be lovers of justice, uphold justice, and walk the path of justice. We will respect our teachers. We will not become juvenile gangs. If we see injustice, we will protest.

After the scouting event, the guests participated in a tree-planting campaign at Chowmuhani Park. Regarding tree planting, the secretary said that tree planting is very important. Our Nobel Laureate Dr. Yunus has a book called *Three Zeros World*. It refers to zero net carbon emissions, zero unemployment, and zero poverty. Therefore, we will plant trees because trees provide oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.

Organized by the Begumganj Upazila administration and chaired by Deputy Commissioner  Khandaker Istiak Ahmed, the event featured speeches by special guests, including Mohammad Shahjahan, DIG of Rajshahi Range, Mohammad Abdullah Al Faruk, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Noakhali, Maulana Borhan Uddin, Noakhali District Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, Nasimul Gani Chowdhury Mahal, Secretary of Literature and Culture of Noakhali Jamaat-e-Islami, Kamakshya Chandra Das, President of Begumganj Upazila BNP, Jasim Uddin, Amir of Chowmuhani Municipality Jamaat, Jahir Uddin Harun, President of Chowmuhani Municipality BNP, and Morshedul Amin Foysal, Executive President of Chowmuhani General Business Association. Monjurul Azim Sumon, President of Noakhali District Jubo Dal, was also present.

The event was guided by UNO  Md. Arifur Rahman, with teachers and students from various educational institutions in attendance. At the end of the program, sports equipment and tree saplings were distributed among 300 educational institutions in Begumganj Upazila.
