The Brahmaputra Convention was organized on Saturday  afternoon at the ATM Enamul Haque Chowdhury Chand meeting of the District Bar Association with the theme 'Brahmaputra saves us, let's save Brahmaputra' against India's plan to divert water from the Brahmaputra in the name of inter-river interlinking and to demand water rights .

Sheikh Rokon, a river researcher and secretary general of Riverine People, said, "The river flows with its own momentum. We have not been able to recognize the course of the river even today. As a result, we have killed the river while trying to control it. Because we did not manage the river in a planned manner, India has built dams in 54 transboundary rivers of Bangladesh. This is against ethics and morality. The Brahmaputra is our life, this river has kept Bangladesh alive, we have to keep the Brahmaputra alive."

Comrade Rajequzzaman Ratan, Assistant General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Socialist Party (BSD), said, " We have to manage the river, adapt to it and live with it, rather than rule it." "We only want to rule the river, and in order to do this, we have killed the river."

He further said, "Floods and droughts are not the evil forms of nature, they are the laws of nature. Nature is not hostile to anyone, humans are creating problems among people by trying to differentiate nature. We have not been able to love the law of nature. To save people, the Brahmaputra River must be saved."

Chaired by the President of the BSAD District Committee, Comrade Fulbar Rahman, the speakers included Comrade Abdul Quddus, Secretary of the BSAD Central Committee, District Committee members Dulal Bose, Md. Suman, and journalist Safi Khan.
