BSF trys to push back 12 Bangladeshis , 7 arrested
Sabbir Hossain, Hatibandha ( Lalmonirhat )
India's Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push some Bangladeshi people back into Bangladesh at three border points in Lalmonirhat on Thursday evening.
In one case, a family of seven was forced across the border. The family includes Obaidur Rahman (45), his wife Mahmuda Begum (40), and their five children. They were taken by Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) for questioning after saying they were Bangladeshi. Later, they were sent to Aditmari police station to check who they are. The family is from Fulbari, Kurigram, and had gone to India through a broker about 3 years ago.
At two other places — Patgram and Hatibandha — BSF also tried to push 12 more people into Bangladesh, but local people and BGB stopped them. These 12 people are now stuck on the border line.
Bangladesh authorities and BGB are watching the area closely to protect the people and prevent more pushbacks.
