Child dies after drowning in Sirajdikhan

Sirajdikhan (Munshiganj) Correspondent

A tragic accident in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj, has claimed the life of a 3-year-old child named Ayatul, the son of speech-impaired Zahid Khan from Khidirpur village at around 9 a.m. on Monday  when Ayatul accidentally fell into a water-filled hole dug for road construction near the house of village policeman Chan Mia in the Latbdi union of the upazila.

According to local sources, Ayatul had gone out in the morning in search of his grandmother, whose home is located about 30 meters from his own. Unnoticed by family members, he wandered off and soon went missing. A long search by villagers and relatives ensued.

Eventually, Ayatul’s body was discovered floating in the hole by the village police. The hole had reportedly been excavated for the purpose of soil collection during road development work. Upon being alerted, family members quickly retrieved the child and rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Ayatul’s great-grandfather, Janbali, a resident of the same area, recounted the heartbreaking discovery.

Ayatul’s body was later brought home by the grieving family.
