
Parents' assembly, drama to prevent child marriage in Phulbari

With the slogan “Let us all pledge to build a child marriage-free society,” on Thursday, a parent assembly and awareness drama titled Khukir Biye (Khuki’s Marriage) was staged at the playground of Ajoatari Master Para High School in Kashipur Union of Phulbari upazila, Kurigram.
The event was organized by the youth organization Alokito Kashipur, with the support of the Child, Not Bride (CNB) project, MJSKS, and Plan International Bangladesh, and was presided over by the organization’s president Anisur Rahman.
The event included sports, a quiz competition, a parent gathering, and a drama raising awareness about child marriage prevention.
CNB Project Technical Officer Ilias Ali was present as the chief guest. Special guest was Joseph Ali, headteacher of Ajoatari Master Para High School.
Also present were assistant teachers Subhash Chandra Bhowmik, Shahinaz Parveen, CNB project field facilitators of Mohideb Jubo Kallyan Somity (MJSKS) Nurjahan Khatun and Zahid Hasan, Alokito Kashipur youth organization member Tumpa Rani, Agricultural and Climate Affairs Secretary Ashiqur Rahman, member Jewel Rana, and many others.
Speakers addressed the importance of not marrying off boys and girls at a young age, and discussed this matter seriously with both parents and students.
