Potholes developed in Tongibari road, accidents feared
Md. Masum, Tongibari (Munshiganj)
Rainwater has entered various places on the Aldi-Dighirpar road in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj, creating small and large potholes. The locals are fearing accidents due to this.
Locals say that thousands of vehicles ply this road every day. Specially heavy vehicles loaded with tree trunks of Mujibur Sardar ply. Apart from this, thousands of vehicles including small and large buses and trucks ply. This important road is used to travel between the country's capital Dhaka and Munshiganj district towns. The locals demanded that the relevant authorities repair the road as soon as possible to avoid accidents.
On Friday (May 23), it was seen that a large pothole had formed on the road in front of the Maa Community Center adjacent to the Kathadia Eidgah on the way from Aldi to Dighirpar. In addition, there are such small and large potholes at various places on the road.
Bipu Madbar, a resident of Kathadia village, said, "It is urgent to repair the road. Otherwise, there is a possibility of a major accident at any time." A few days ago, a dog fell into this hole. The dog could not get out. Without any help from the Fire Service and the Animal Resources Department to save the dog, the locals rescued the dog with bamboo and wooden sticks.
Local resident Mayan Walid Huzaifa said, "The road needs to be repaired quickly. It should be repaired before an accident. The family affected by an accident understands the extent of their suffering. Therefore, we demand that the road be repaired very quickly."
Munshiganj RHD Sub-Divisional Engineer Nazmus Hossain Shakib said, "I am investigating and fixing it."
