Sri Sri Jagannath Dev Rath Yatra, one of the religious events of the Sanatan Dharma followers, was held at the Sandwip Town Jagannath Akhra Temple with great religious solemnity and enthusiasm. Along with this, a Rath Yatra was also held at the initiative of the Sandwip Town Jagannath Devalaya Sangsad located in the same ward on Friday.

Various programs were organized by the Sandwip Sri Sri Jagannath Devalaya Akhra Temple Management Committee located in Ward No. 3 of Sandwip Municipality. In the morning, there was Balabhog, followed by Bhajan Kirtan, Bhog Aarti, and in the evening, Jagannath, Baladev, and Su-Bhadra were taken on a huge chariot and a chariot parade was held across a wide area.  After the chariot pulling, hundreds of devotees were distributed Prasad. Hundreds of devotees including women, men, children and teenagers participated in the chariot pulling.

All the devotees who came to the Utta Rath Yatra enjoyed all the programs of the Rath Yatra in a very religious and joyful atmosphere and after the chariot pulling, they took Prasad and returned home with the hope that Jagannath Dev would bring good luck to everyone.

During the said Rath Yatra, the President of the Temple Committee, Master Lokeshwar Pal Mutho, said over the phone that Rath Yatra has been held in this temple for ages. Due to illness, I was staying in Chittagong and could not be present. Still, I am grateful to all those concerned, including the General Secretary of the Temple Committee, Mukul Majumdar, who worked tirelessly to make this Rath Yatra a success.

During the Rath Yatra, the temple committee's vice-president Master Harilal Majumdar, general secretary Mukul Majumdar, treasurer Shimul Chandra Dey, along with the leaders of the temple management committee and youth committee leaders and respected persons of the Sanatani community were present, including Kanu Sutradhar, Mangal Sutradhar, Pradeep Malakar, Dilip Kumar Malakar, Rakhal Malakar, Kartik Chakraborty, Dulal Serang, Jyotish Jaldas, Dukh Haran Jaldas, Ranjit Malakar and many others.

Regarding this colorful arrangement of the Rath Yatra, the general secretary of the temple committee Mukul Majumdar said

According to the religious beliefs of the Sanatanis, Jagannath is the Nath or Adhiswar of the world. The world is the world Brahma. And Nath is God. In light of this, Jagannath is the God of the world. By receiving the grace of Jagannath, people get welfare and liberation.  From this traditional belief, the followers of Sanatan Dharma decorate the chariot with the idol of Lord Jagannath and pull it. This festival begins on the second day of the Shukla Paksha of Ashadh in the Bengali year. The most attractive part of the Rath Yatra is the colorful procession. Then the formalities end with the Ultorath Yatra. After various rituals and religious ceremonies, this festival will end with the Ultorath Yatra after 9 days.
