
Teachers' protest in Lalmonirhat demanding implementation of 5-point demands

Teachers under the project "Mosque-Based Child and Mass Education Program for the Development of Moral and Religious Values (8th Phase)", run by the Islamic Foundation, organized a protest rally, human chain, and submitted a memorandum demanding the immediate approval of the project and disbursement of pending salaries and allowances from January 2025, along with four other key demands.
Organized by the teachers, caretakers, and staff involved in the project, the event was held on Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 AM at the Lalmonirhat District Model Mosque. After an initial discussion session, a protest march was brought out that paraded through various streets and culminated in a human chain demonstration at Mission Morh in the town.
Later, the protesters staged a sit-in and human chain in front of the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where several speakers voiced their concerns and demands. Speakers included Md. Sirajul Islam, President of Lalmonirhat District Branch, Md. Abdus Samad, President, Hatibandha Upazila Branch, FS Md. Ubaidul Islam, Kaliganj Upazila and others.
Five point demands include immediate approval of the 8th phase of the project and disbursement of five months’ pending salaries and bonuses before Eid-ul-Adha ; itegration of all staff under permanent (revenue) positions with their current designations, atomatic transfer of existing 7th phase personnel to the 8th phase ; inlusion of caretakers under a pay scale and dignified increase in the salary and allowances of teachers.
At the end of the event, the protestors formally submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat in support of their demands.
