UGC's warning about fake website of N'ganj University of Science & Tech

Staff Correspondent

A fraudulent group has launched a fake website in the name of Narayanganj University of Science and Technology and is conducting illegal activities under the guise of student admissions, according to the University Grants Commission (UGC). To avoid being deceived, UGC has urged everyone to remain cautious and not fall into such traps.

On Sunday (May 18), UGC stated in a press release that although the university was approved in 2023, no administrative or academic activities—including the appointment of a vice-chancellor—have commenced yet. Despite this, a fraud ring has launched a fake website under the domain https://ngstu.ac and is attempting to carry out admission procedures with false information.

The statement further mentioned that UGC's concerned department reviewed the website and discovered that the image of a vice-chancellor from a university in Kolkata, India, was falsely used as the VC of the fake university. Additionally, an image of a building from Gazipur Agricultural University was falsely presented as the university campus.

UGC reported that such activities are misleading students and guardians. Therefore, they have warned everyone not to get involved in any financial transactions or admission-related activities based on such misinformation.

To avoid fraud, UGC has also requested everyone to verify the information of any newly government-approved university from the official UGC website before proceeding with admission or contact.
