
5 Bangladeshis detained in India handed over to BGB

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over five Bangladeshi nationals detained at the Hakimpur border with India to the BGB. They were returned at a flag meeting held between the BGB and BSF at the Zero Point of the Toluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar Upazila around 4:30 pm on Monday.
Satkhira Police Station Police Inspector (Operations) Sushanta Kumar Ghosh said that after verifying their names and identities, the detainees were handed over to their families around 9 pm. The returned persons are Monira Parveen (47) of Paschim Batakkhi village in Shyamnagar upazila, Rafiqul Islam (48) of Harinagar village in the same upazila, Shahid Ali (57) of Gobindapur village in Kaliganj upazila, Rabiul Islam (35) of Benadna village in the same upazila and Masum Billah (30) of Garimhol village.
According to BGB sources, they were detained by BSF while entering the Hakimpur checkpost area of India around 11 pm on August 24. Later, a flag meeting was held under the leadership of BSF's Amudia Company Commander Inspector Divajyoti Dolly and BGB-33 Battalion's Toluigacha BOP Commander Naib Subedar Md. Abul Kashem. After the meeting, they were handed over to BGB.
The arrested Masum Billah said that they had been living in India for a long time in search of work. Recently, they decided to return home as the situation was not favorable. Therefore, they voluntarily surrendered at the Hakimpur BSF camp on the night of August
