Attacks, vandalism, looting of houses ofvBNP members  led by Madaripur AL leader Atiq Madbar

Atiq Madabar, Organizing Secretary of the Upazila Awami League and the chairman of the Kutubpur Union Parishad, has been accused of attacking, vandalizing and looting the houses of several BNP-affiliated families in the Kandi area of Hudu Mollah in Kutubpur Union of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur. The victims have claimed that the attack was carried out by people under his leadership.
 
The attack allegedly took place on the homes of Saddam Morol, Delwar Morol and Jahangir Morol on September 17. The affected family members claimed that three houses and two motorcycles were vandalized in the attack.
 
There were also allegations that a cupboard in a residence was broken into and gold ornaments and cash were looted. However, the exact amount of looted goods and the total amount of damage could not be immediately confirmed.
 
A BNP-affiliated person named Swapan Dhali was injured in the incident. His head was crushed by the attackers. He was later rescued and admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. Hospital sources said that he received three stitches on his head.
 
The victims' family members claim that their homes were attacked over political differences and local dominance.
 
Victim Delwar Morol said, 'We used to do politics with Atiq Madabar. We no longer do politics with him because of some of his activities. We have been associated with BNP's political activities for a long time. Because of this, he got angry with us and attacked, vandalized and looted our houses.
 
However, a direct statement from the woman concerned regarding this allegation was not immediately available.
Statement of Swapan Dhali, injured in the attack
Injured Swapan Dhali said, "I was standing in front of my cousin's house."
 
Doctors at Shibchar Upazila Health Complex said that injured Swapan Dhali received three stitches on his head. It is learnt that his physical condition is stable while undergoing treatment.
 
The current status of the case and the specific details of the complaint could not be immediately confirmed after a written complaint was filed with the police station in this regard.
 
The next day, on September 17, the victims alleged that the houses of BNP-affiliated Saddam Morol, Delwar Morol, and Jahangir Morol were attacked, vandalized, and looted.
 
Local residents said that these successive incidents have created political tension in the area and concern among the general public.
 
Family members of the victims have raised questions about the role of the local administration as allegations of clashes, attacks, and vandalism continue to surface.
They allege that the situation could become more complicated if effective action is not taken even after allegations are made against influential leaders of locally banned organizations.
 
When contacted regarding the allegations of attacks, vandalism and looting, Atiq Madbar, the chairman of the Kutubpur Union Parishad and the organizing secretary of the Upazila Awami League, said that there was a fight among themselves.

Shibchar Police Station OC Kamal Hossain said, "There are multiple police teams in the area following the attack and vandalism in Qutubpur. The situation is currently calm."
