Attempted child rape in Barguna: Accused fugitive, accomplice Abdul Haque identified

An allegation of attempting to rape a five-year-old child has been filed against a neighbor named Nur Hossain (45) in Ward No. 5 of Phuljhuri Patakata village, located under No. 1 Badarkhali union in Barguna Sadar upazila. According to locals, the accused has been on the run since the incident.
According to local sources, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon (July 25) when Nur Hossain allegedly entered the home of expatriate Ayub Mia and attempted to forcibly violate his five-year-old and only daughter, Afifa, taking advantage of her being alone. Hearing the child's screams, neighbors rushed to the scene and apprehended the accused.
Locals claim that although the perpetrator was initially tied to a tree, a man named Abdul Haque Mia assisted him in escaping. Since then, Nur Hossain has remained in hiding, triggering intense anger and resentment among local residents. Community members emphasized that aiding a suspect in escaping such a heinous crime is equally punishable, demanding the immediate arrest of Nur Hossain alongside legal action against Abdul Haque for facilitating his flight.
Residents noted that the matter has been formally reported to the Barguna Sadar Police Station, and law enforcement officials have assured them that swift legal measures will be taken.
