Canal excavation will eliminate floods and droughts : Dulu

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP stated on Wednesday that the ongoing canal re-excavation projects have brought renewed hope to rural communities, with local residents participating spontaneously in the initiative.
The Minister emphasized that these projects are crucial for building a climate-resilient rural infrastructure.
Minister Dulu made these remarks while inspecting the Chandrakhali canal re-excavation project in Saturia, Manikganj on Wednesday noon.
Highlighting the government's holistic approach to water management, he said, "The water from these canals will support paddy cultivation during the dry season, facilitate fish farming, and support tree plantation along the banks. Furthermore, proper water drainage will permanently resolve local waterlogging issues.
Prior to his visit to Saturia, the Minister inspected the Konabari canal re-excavation work in Shibalaya upazila, where he planted a palm tree sapling along the bank to mark the event. Following the inspections, he engaged in a briefing with members of the press.
Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam Rita MP and S A Jinnah Kabir MP also spoke at the gathering, echoing the government's commitment to development.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana, along with senior officials from the district and upazila administration and local political leaders, were present during the visits.
