Children injured, houses vandalized in Rangpur

Two school children were seriously injured and four houses were vandalized in a major violence in Khalishakuti Chilmon village under Haragach police station in Rangpur city.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon over a minor quarrel between children in Khalishakuti Chilmon village under Haragach police station. Four houses were vandalized as a result of this incident. In addition, two people were injured by sharp weapons from the opponent. There is currently extreme tension in the area, which is devoid of men.
According to police, eyewitnesses and local sources, two children in Khalishakuti Chilmon village first argued and then started a riot over one child urinating on the other's land. At one point, when the matter spread among the adults, it quickly turned into a major conflict.It is alleged that a group of local influential people led by Sultan and Sohrab attacked the opponents. They vandalized four houses and seriously injured student Rakib (17) and local fruit trader Akiful Islam (32) who came to stop them with sharp weapons. The injured were rescued by locals and admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment in Ward No. 31 of Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Rakib is said to be a class 10 student of a local school.In this regard, the locals said that the elders attacked the houses without resolving the trivial incident of the children. After the incident, a written complaint was filed with the Haragach Metropolitan Police Station on behalf of the victim's families. Based on the complaint, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Haragach Metropolitan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam Sohel said, "Accepting the truth of the incident, an investigation is underway based on the complaint. The culprits will be identified and brought to justice."
