Coast Guard rescued 18 fishermen from adrift fishing boat in deep sea

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued 18 fishermen alive along with their disabled fishing boat from the deep sea.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Coast Guard Media Officer, shared this information in a press release on Wednesday morning .
The press release said, Bangladesh Coast Guard continues to play a vital role in ensuring the security of the country's vast coastal and riverine regions. By guaranteeing the overall safety of fishermen engaged in maritime fishing, the Coast Guard has become a symbol of security and trust among coastal communities.
According to the details, the fishing boat named 'FB Nishan-2' with 18 fishermen onboard suffered an engine failure and began drifting in the deep sea, approximately 10 nautical miles away from the Sangu Gas Field, while returning from fishing at around 6:00 AM on Tuesday .
Later at 1:00 PM, one of the fishermen on the boat contacted the owner, who then called the national emergency service number 999 to seek assistance, alerting the Coast Guard.
Acting on the information, the on-duty Coast Guard ship Shyamol Bangla immediately conducted a rescue operation in the area and successfully rescued all 18 fishermen alive along with the disabled boat.
The rescued fishermen were provided with primary medical treatment and necessary food, and were subsequently handed over to the boat owners.
