
Coast Guard seized 20,000 pieces of yaba in Teknaf
Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 20,000 pieces of yaba worth about Tk 10 million in Shahpari, Teknaf.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Coast Guard Media Officer, informed this on Friday afternoon.
The press release said, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Outpost Shahpari on Friday at 9 AM near Kayukkhali Canal adjacent to Naf River under Teknaf Police Station. During the operation, the patrol team signaled a suspicious wooden boat inside Bangladesh's territorial waters to stop. The boat, sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, quickly fled towards Myanmar. Subsequently, a search was conducted in the area, and nearly 20,000 pieces of yaba worth about 10 million taka were recovered, kept afloat in an innovative manner along with fishing nets
The press release further stated that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent drug trafficking.
