Coast Guard seizes 20-kg cannabis worth Tk 6 lakh in Teknaf

The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 20 kilograms of cannabis, estimated to be worth around Tk 6 lakh, during a special anti-narcotics drive in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday night.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, the media officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the development on Thursday noon.
He stated that, acting on a secret tip-off, a special team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted the operation in an area adjacent to Naityong Para under Teknaf Police Station at around 10:00 PM on Wednesday.
During the drive, the law enforcers searched a suspicious residential house in the locality and recovered the stash of cannabis. However, no arrests could be made during the raid as the drug peddlers managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard personnel.
Legal procedures regarding the seized narcotics has been taken.
