
Discussion, cultural program on Rabindranath Tagore’s 164th birth anniversary in Barishal

The 164th birth anniversary of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in Barishal with deep reverence and cultural enthusiasm. The district Shilpakala Academy organized a discussion meeting and a colorful cultural program titled “Rabindranath and Bangladesh.”
The program was held on Friday at 5 PM in the hall room of the District Shilpakala Academy.
Guests at the discussion segment included Debashish Chakraborty, member of the Central District Shilpakala Academy; Salma Begum, former Vice Principal of Barisal Government Women’s College; and Sabbir Newaz Sagar from JASAS, among others.
In their speeches, the speakers stated, “Rabindranath is not only a figure of Bengali literature but also an inspiration for Bengali culture. His literature, music, and philosophy remain deeply rooted in our national life.”
They further added, “Rabindranath is relevant and motivational in every chapter of Bangladesh’s independence, humanity, and intellectual pursuit.”
Following the discussion, an enjoyable cultural performance began, including Rabindra Sangeet, recitations, and dance.
Among the participating organizations were—District Shilpakala Academy, Nrityangan Nrityakala, Tansen Sangeet Vidyalaya, Surer Chhoa Sangeet Academy, Prantik Nritya O Sangeet Vidyalaya, Sur Sadhana Sangeet Academy, Shafik Ballet Troupe, Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangathan (JASAS), Swarlipi Sangeet Vidyalaya, and Barisal Nrityanchal.
District Cultural Officer of Barisjal Shilpakala Academy, Asit Baran Dash Gupta, expressed hope that this radiant event in Rabindranath’s spirit will resonate in the hearts of Barisal’s culturally inclined people for a long time.
