Family Card programme inaugurated in Barguna

The third phase of the Family Card distribution programme under the social security programme of the Government has been inaugurated.
The program was launched on Wednesday in Ward No. 1 of Bibichini Union of Betagi Upazila of Barguna. The program was inaugurated simultaneously across the country as part of the implementation of the Prime Minister's previously announced election manifesto. In continuation of this, the family card distribution program has started in Barguna district.
Md. Nurul Islam Moni, Chief Whip of National Parliament and Member of Parliament for Barguna-2 Constituency, was virtually present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
Special guests were present, Divisional Commissioner and Additional Secretary of Barishal Division Khalil Ahmed, DIG of Barishal Range Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Administrator of Barguna Zilla Parishad Md. Nazrul Islam Mollah, Superintendent of Police Md. Qudrat-e-Khuda (PPM-Service), Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Abul Fattah, Director of Divisional Social Services Office Shah Md. Rafiqul Islam and former Mayor of Betagi Municipality and former Chairman of Upazila Parishad Md. Shahjahan Kabir. The function was presided over by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Barguna Ms. Taslima Akhter.
Also present were Betagi Upazila Executive Officer Muh. Saddam Hossain, officials and employees of the Social Services Department, officials of the Administration and Police Departments, media personnel and local dignitaries. The program officially began in the district by distributing family cards among 278 families of Ward No. 1 of Bibichini Union.
Khalil Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner of Barisal Division, said, "The family card program is a humanitarian initiative of the government. The administration is determined to deliver this service to the real beneficiaries through transparency and accountability."
Chief Whip Alhaj Md. Nurul Islam Moni MP said in a virtual meeting that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working to ensure food security for the poor and low-income people. The Family Card Program is an important initiative to implement that goal.
He further said that this important initiative of the government's social safety net will play an effective role in ensuring food security of the marginalized population.
