Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah said, “The future of Bangladesh will be illuminated by the talent and efforts of its youth. Bangladesh is a land full of potential. The future of our country will rely on the skills of the youth, who will use their intelligence and capabilities to elevate the nation to new heights. It is under their leadership that the dream of a prosperous Bangladesh will be realized.”
He made these remarks on Thursday at a discussion program titled “Building a Youth-Driven Bangladesh”, organized by the Narayanganj District Information Office at the Narayanganj College Auditorium, where he was present as the chief guest.
The event was chaired by Narayanganj District Information Officer Mohammad Kamruzzaman and moderated by teacher Arif Mihir. Among the special guests were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Md. Mashfakur Rahman, Deputy Director of the District Family Planning Department Md. Shahidul Islam, and District Election Officer Md. Alomgir Hossain. The keynote speaker was Dr. Fazlul Haque Rumon Reza, Principal of Narayanganj College.
DC Zahidul Islam Miah further said, “It is because of the Language Movement of 1952 that we speak in Bangla today. Our independence was won through the Liberation War of 1971 and again through the mass uprising of July 2024 — both driven by the youth. Today’s youth are the guiding force of our future. After the July 2024 uprising, when there were no police around, it was the youth who took charge of managing traffic and monitoring markets. They are also becoming increasingly aware of the law.”
He emphasized, “In addition to general education, young people must be encouraged to pursue technical education and develop skills in information and communication technology.”
Other speakers echoed similar sentiments, saying that everyone must stand firmly against corruption and that youth participation must increase in all sectors. They stressed that the state achieved through the July 2024 uprising should not fall into inequality or autocracy. By prioritizing youth in every aspect, Bangladesh must be built free from drugs, terrorism, and extremism.
