Health officer in fear after Jubo Dal leader allegedly threatens her in Pabna

Sujanagar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Suprabha Rani has allegedly stopped coming to office after being threatened over a tender dispute.
She alleged that on Tuesday (3 November), Jubo Dal Convener Siddiqur Rahman Pintu led 8-10 people who confined her in her office for over two and a half hours, disconnected electricity, turned off CCTV cameras, and pressured her to cancel a tender.
The tender, worth Tk 80 lakh 76 thousand for 6 packages under MSR sector, was invited on 10 September through e-GP. Four organisations were selected on 2 November.
Dr. Suprabha said she was threatened with death for refusing to re-tender illegally. She has informed the administration and is preparing a written complaint to the Civil Surgeon.
Pintu denied the allegations, claiming there were irregularities in the tender and local contractors were deprived by bringing in people from Jhenaidah with special conditions.
Civil Surgeon Abul Kalam Azad said the tender was done as per rules and such harassment is unacceptable. He advised the officer to stay safe for a few days.
Sujanagar Police OC Muzaffar Hossain said no written complaint has been received yet, but legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed.
