Chittagong Health assistants working in Mirsarai Upazila have gone on strike to achieve their six-point demands as part of the program of the Central Coordination Council of the Bangladesh Health Assistant Association in Mirsarai.
The program was held on Tuesday morning at the Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex premises with a two-hour work stoppage.
The association's Mirsarai Upazila branch President Kazi Saiful Islam, General Secretary Nurul Alam, vice-president Hosne Ara Mir, co-editor Ariful Islam, assistant health inspector Nasima Akhter (AHI) spoke at the sit-in program. Health assistants Imtiaz Uddin, Nazma Akhter, Ziaul Haque Khan, Ismat Ara, Aminul Islam, Kakli Rani, Bina Rani, Jotsna Rani and Zahed Rafiq were present at the time.
The speakers said that field health workers are working tirelessly to provide healthcare to the people's doorsteps. They have been deprived of their due dignity and facilities for a long time. The implementation of the 6-point demand is their life's demand. They urged the government to implement these demands quickly and warned of announcing stricter programs in the future if the demands are not met.
It is mentioned that this demand of health assistants has been going on for a long time, which those concerned believe will play an important role in improving the quality of healthcare at the field level.
