Huge deal alleged : Jailed corrupt Sub-Registrar Subrata Singh gets prize posting instead of dismissal

After being caught red-handed with one lakh taka bribe during an operation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Subrata Kumar Singh, the then Sub-Registrar of Kushtia Sadar, was sent to jail by the court, following which the Ministry of Law temporarily suspended him in 2020.
After spending one month in prison, he was released on bail. Later, by managing the Ministry in exchange of huge amount of money, he managed to retain his job.
Subsequently, in a case of grabbing property worth at least 10 crore taka belonging to two sisters through signature forgery and fake documents, this former Sub-Registrar of Kushtia, Subrata Kumar Singh, was again sent to jail on February 26. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kushtia, Judge Tapon Roy, rejected his bail plea and ordered him to be sent to jail, after which he was transferred to Kushtia District Jail in the evening.
However, despite being jailed on corruption charges, he was not dismissed rather, instead of dismissal, he was transferred from Dinajpur to Rangpur Sadar on April 28 as a prize posting. Allegations have surfaced that a deal involving crores of taka took place in exchange for this prize posting instead of issuing a dismissal order.
During the past fascist regime, Subrata, who used to flaunt his identity as a supporter of the Awami League, has now stirred intense dissatisfaction among officials of the Directorate of Registration following this prize posting instead of punishment. Relevant parties have demanded the cancellation of his transfer order, speedy conclusion of the ACC case against him, and appropriate punishment.
Sources said, Subrata Kumar Singh (46) was serving as Sub-Registrar of Dinajpur. He is the son of Durgapada Singh of Joypur village in Monirampur upazila of Jashore. The corruption and irregularities were committed while he was posted in Kushtia. Investigations by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) confirmed the allegations against him.
