Human chain, highway blockade demanding implementation of Rangpur EPZ in Gobindaganj

A human chain, protest procession and highway blockade program was held in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha demanding the implementation of the proposed Rangpur EPZ.
This human chain and blockade program was held at the Thana intersection on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway for about 2 hours from 4 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday.
Organized by the people of Gobindaganj, the convener of the Citizens' Committee MA Matin Mollah, journalists Sajadur Rahman Saju, Omar Faruk, Abdus Salam, Ayan Islam, Abu Raihan, Maqsud Rahman and others spoke during this human chain.
The speakers said that if the Rangpur EPZ is implemented in Gobindaganj, about five lakh people from the neglected northern region, including Gaibandha district and neighboring districts, will benefit in various ways. This will reduce unemployment and the country will move towards development. Therefore, the government's decision to implement the proposed REPZ should be implemented immediately.
Along with this, the speakers demanded the immediate arrest of the drug dealer who occupied the land of the Sahebganj sugarcane farm and the terrorist Swapan, who is accused in the BNP office vandalism case.
In addition to people from different classes and professions of Gobindaganj, teachers of educational institutions, scout members and leaders and workers of various voluntary organizations were present with banners in the human chain.
Meanwhile, during the human chain and blockade program, all types of vehicle movement on the Dhaka-Rangpur road and the Gobindaganj-Dinajpur regional highway were closed for about 2 hours.
Upon receiving the news, Gobindaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Syeda Yasmin Sultana reached the spot and assured to inform the high level of the government including the Deputy Commissioner, after which the protesters lifted the human chain and blockade.
