Human chain demanding protection of school playground in Rajarhat

Teachers, students and locals formed a human chain to protest the construction of a shelter center on the grounds of Rajarhat Sukhdev Government Primary School in Kurigram.
The human chain was held on Sunday morning at the school grounds.
It is learnt that 500 school buildings and flood shelter centers are being constructed in flood-prone areas of the country under the World Bank-funded River Project. As part of this, LGED has issued a tender for the construction of a building and flood shelter center on the grounds of Sukder Government Primary School in Bidyananda Union of the upazila
In this situation, if the shelter center is built in the middle of the grounds, there will be no playground for the students of two institutions, including a girls' school adjacent to the primary school. In protest, they formed a human chain demanding the construction of a shelter center building in another part, excluding the school grounds.
