The Islami Bank Customer Forum organized a mass human chain today to protest alleged government interference, takeover attempts, and illegal money laundering involving Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC.

The demonstration took place around 10:00 AM on Sunday, drawing a diverse crowd of account holders, retail customers, and conscious citizens from various professions. Prominent civic and business figures attended the protest, including Mu. Shahidullah, Deputy Managing Director of Adhunik Hospital, along with Foyez Ahmed, Rezaul Islam Khan Sumon, Jahirul Islam, Kamrul Sarker, Monjurul Islam, Anwar Patwary, and Habib Ahmed Chowdhury.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers claimed that a deep-rooted conspiracy is underway to systematically tarnish the image and financial stability of Islami Bank, which has long served as a cornerstone of the country's Islamic banking sector. They alleged that orchestrated attempts to destabilize the institution and launder capital abroad are part of a broader plot to weaken the macroeconomy of Bangladesh. The protesters demanded an immediate cessation of these hostile maneuvers.

The customer representatives further emphasized that Islami Bank enjoys the deep trust and confidence of millions of ordinary depositors across the nation. They asserted that any illicit attempts to capture control of the bank's board or management must be thwarted immediately, urging the central bank and relevant financial regulators to take swift, effective measures to trace and repatriate all laundered funds. Following the conclusion of the human chain, the organizers submitted an official call to action urging high-level authorities to intervene and restore corporate governance in the banking sector.
