Husband kidnapped in Mirzapur, wife, 6 others arrested

Police arrested 6 people, including the victim's wife, in the case of husband kidnapped in Mirzapur, Tangail, and demanding extortion of 4 lakh taka.
The arrested people were handed over to the court on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday (August 1) evening, the police rescued the husband Rahim Mia, who was being held hostage, from Palpara village of Gorai union of the upazila and arrested the involved people. However, sensing the presence of the police, a young man named Rakib Hossain (18), who was leading this gang, managed to escape.
Those arrested in this incident are Hasan Molla (34), son of Nazim Uddin of Mir Deohata village in Gorai union of the upazila, Imran Hossain (25), son of the deceased Atowar Hossain of Mir Deohata village, Zahirul Islam (24), son of Rahim Sikder of the same area, Md. Rana (20), son of Khorshed Ali of Kodalia village, Arif (33), son of Mangal Sikder of Bahuria village in Bahuria union, and Aklima Begum (40), daughter of Alkes of Talchana village in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur district.
According to the police, the abduction victim Abdur Rahim and the arrested Aklima Akhter developed a love relationship over work in the same brick kiln and at one stage they even got married. After the production activities of the brick kiln stopped, Abdur Rahim went to his native area. He has another wife there. Aklima came up with a plan to punish Abdur Rahim Aklima for not contacting him for 6-7 months. He called him and asked him to come to Mirzapur. Soon after Abdur Rahim arrived at Aklima's rented house in Mirzapur, others arrested in this case, led by the fugitive youth, beat Abdur Rahim and took him hostage in a house. Then, they called his relatives and demanded a ransom of 4 lakh taka. When the relatives of the hostage Abdur Rahim called 999 and informed the police, those involved in the incident were arrested with the help of information technology.
In this regard, Mirzapur Police Station OC Muhammad Rashedul Islam said, the arrested people used to lead the drug eradication committee in the area. But behind the scenes, they were getting allegations that they were extorting money in various ways to get to work. In one such incident, a case was filed against them and they were handed over to the court after being handed over to the court.
