If rebel candidate contests in UP elections,  he will be expelled from party: MP Majnu

Feni Correspondent

A BNP opinion exchange meeting was held in Mirzanagar Union, Parashuram last Friday.

Rafiqul Alam Majnu, MP for Feni-1 constituency and convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, has said that if anyone runs as a rebel candidate against the BNP-nominated candidate in the upcoming Union Parishad elections, he will be expelled from the party. He said that the expulsion order for such cases will not be withdrawn.

He said, "If someone who has worked for the party, been persecuted, but is not acceptable to the general public is nominated, that candidate will not be able to be elected. This will tarnish the party's image. If people who can work for the people, stand by them in times of trouble and adversity, and play a role in the development of the area are nominated, both the people and the party will benefit."

Addressing the party leaders and activists, Majnu also said that the party-nominated candidate should be given the opportunity to win the election and work for the development of the area. Everyone should remain united without creating divisions among themselves.
‎
The meeting, chaired by Upazila BNP convener Abdul Halim Manik, was also addressed by BNP National Executive Committee member Abu Taleb, former vice-president of the District Krishak Dal Shahed Aman Chowdhury, and Upazila BNP joint convener Advocate Abdul Alim Maksud.
