Illegal shrimps worth Tk 3.5 cr seized by Coast Guard in N'ganj

Illegal shrimp fry worth about Tk 3.5 cr was seized in Coast Guard operation in Narayanganj on Tuesday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq provided this information on Tuesday afternoon.
The press release said that based on secret information, on Tuesday, 29 July 2025 at 6 AM, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Pagla in the area adjacent to Kanchpur Bridge in Narayanganj. During the operation, 3 trucks and 1 passenger bus were searched, and approximately 70,50,000 pieces of shrimp fry worth around Tk 3 crore 52 lakh 50 thousand were seized.
Later, in the presence of the Assistant Fisheries Officer of Narayanganj Upazila, the seized shrimp fry were released into the Meghna River, and the seized bus and trucks were released after taking written bonds from the drivers.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect fish resources.
