
Indian goods smuggled evading customs duty seized in Fatullah

A large consignment of Indian goods worth approximately Tk 1.5 crore, smuggled into the country evading customs duty, has been seized by the Coast Guard in Fatulla, Narayanganj.
This information was disclosed in a press release by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque on Thursday
According to the press release, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Pagla in the Kutubpur area under Fatulla police station in Narayanganj from 2 AM to 5 AM on Thursday, 24 July. During the operation, a suspicious truck was searched in the area, and Indian sarees, three-piece dresses, lehengas, and cosmetics—smuggled into the country evading customs duty and worth approximately Tk 1,50,29,052—were seized along with the truck, its driver, and helper.
Legal procedures are underway regarding the detained individuals and the seized goods.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling.
