
International Forest Day observed in Jhenaigati

The International Forest Day was observed in Jhenaigati, emphasizing forest conservation and biodiversity protection.
To mark the occasion, an awareness program was held at the conference hall of the Jhenaigati Upazila Forest Office on Monday at 11:00 am . The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, the Department of Forests, and the Forest Department’s Jhenaigati office.
The program was presided over by Jhenaigati Range Officer, while the chief guest was the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). Among the distinguished guests were local government officials, environmental activists, and representatives from various organizations.
In attendance were key officials including Md. Abdullah Al Amin, Senior Vice President of the Upazila BNP; Md. Abdul Rahman, Assistant Forest Conservator of Bachutia Forest; Md. Abdul Karim, Deputy Forest Officer of Balijhuri Forest; Md. Suman Mia, Deputy Forest Officer of Tayajung; Md. Iqbal Morjhan Shaheen, Gojni Beat Officer; and Salina Nayan Khan, Officer of Elephant Response Team.
During the event, speakers emphasized the significance of forest conservation for ecological balance and sustainable development. Additionally, as part of forest conservation efforts in the Mymensingh region, a financial assistance check amounting to Tk 56,36,216 was distributed to affected beneficiaries for community-based forest management.
