Japan trusted friend of Bangladesh: Afroza Khanam

Staff Correspondent

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP, has described Japan as an old and trusted friend of Bangladesh that has consistently stood by the country during times of crisis.

The Minister made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the "Japan-Bangladesh Business Women Conference," held at 6:00 PM on Sunday at Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.

Highlighting bilateral relations, the Minister stated that Japan has played a vital role in Bangladesh's infrastructure development and technological progress, emphasizing a shared commitment toward mutual prosperity.

Reflecting on the history of women's empowerment, she noted that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia established a groundbreaking precedent for female education and empowerment by making secondary education free for women. Building upon that legacy, she added that Prime Tarique Rahman has further extended free education up to the degree level, continuing efforts to ensure women's education and economic empowerment to build an inclusive and advanced Bangladesh.

The conference was attended by the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, the chief representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), leaders of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and various business leaders and women entrepreneurs.
