Kidnapping and attempted rape of a housewife (20) in the rural area of Shibganj, Bogura have been alleged.
Although the incident took place on the night of August 7, it was hushed up. Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, when the victim housewife opened up about the matter, the internal incident came to light.
During the investigation, it was learned from the locals and the victim housewife's family that the housewife got married to Syed Nishan of Gasuapara village in Daridah 3 months ago. Nishan is the son of Sebul Mia of that village. After the marriage, Nishan started physically and mentally torturing his wife Tania in various ways.
Unable to bear the torture of her husband, the housewife divorced Nishan on August 7th. At around 9 pm Shimul (30), son of Daulat Sheikh of Amtoli area, and 4-5 unknown people, took the housewife in a CNG car and took her to a brick kiln in Dewantola of Shibganj Sadar Union. On Nishan's orders, Shimul removed the gold ornaments from the housewife.
Threatening to kill her, he snatched 9,400 taka from the housewife through Bikash and Nagad accounts and 11,000 taka from the housewife. The scoundrel named Shimul tried to rape her by force.
The housewife told the media, 'I was being pressured through various means so that I would not seek legal refuge. I was being harassed. Nishan is also involved in this incident.
I have filed a complaint with the police station to get redress for the injustice done to me. It was not possible to get a statement from the accused Shimul as he could not be reached.
Shibganj Police Station SI and Investigation Officer Al Mamun said that the police are working on the basis of the complaint. Appropriate legal action will be taken in this matter.
