With the slogan “Workers and owners united, let’s build a new nation,”  Imarat Nirman Sramik Union Bangladesh (INSAB) Lakshmipur District Branch observed the May Day.On the occasion of the Day 2025, a rally and gathering were organized on Thursday noon in front of the Lakshmipur District Commissioner’s office by INSAB.Present at the event were INSAB Lakshmipur District President Golam Sarwar Mia, Executive President Abdul Mabud Alam, General Secretary Nur Alam, Organizing Secretary Shah Jahan Bhuiyan, Office Secretary Maksudur Rahman, Advisors Adv  Borhan Uddin Bitu and Md. Yasin Arafat, among others.The leaders stated that May Day is a day of international solidarity and commitment to the rights of the global working class. While workers in other countries celebrate the day with enthusiasm, workers in our country continue to struggle to demand and realize their rights.They further added that construction workers have played a leading role in all developmental activities of the country. The leaders demanded workplace safety, implementation of a rationing system, the drafting of democratic labor laws, and budget allocation in the 2025-26 fiscal year to ensure the basic rights of workers.Speakers also demanded that a plot of land be allocated for establishing a permanent office for INSAB Lakshmipur Branch. Additionally, they strongly urged that an INSAB representative be included in the Disaster and Relief Board meetings of Lakshmipur District. INSAB also demanded compensation for the deaths of electrician Jasim Uddin and mason Zahid Uddin at their workplaces.Earlier, a colourful rally was organized by the Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner and Feni Department of Factories and Establishments. The rally paraded through various streets of the city and concluded at the office of the District Commissioner.
