In Noakhali, various political and professional organizations celebrated May Day on Thursday with rallies, discussions, and other events.

In the morning, a discussion meeting was organized by the Noakhali District Branch of the Workers’ Rights Council in front of the party office at Maijdee, the district headquarters. The event was presided over by Md. Abdur Rahim, Senior Joint Convener of the District Branch of the Gana Adhikar Parishad, and conducted by Advocate Maruf, former Senior Joint Member Secretary.Speakers at the event included Tazul Islam Sumon (former Convener, District Gana Adhikar Parishad), Ala Uddin Al Mamun (former Member Secretary), Nur Nabi Tipu (General Secretary, Workers’ Rights Council), Md. Noor (Organizing Secretary), Osman Gani Rubel (President, District Youth Rights Council), Mohin Uddin (General Secretary), as well as Ashik Elahi, Mahbub, and Raju Rana from the Student Rights Council, among other leaders.Elsewhere, the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation organized a separate discussion meeting in front of Noakhali Super Market. The meeting was presided over by Mahbubur Rahman, President of the federation’s city branch. Notable speakers included the organization’s Chief Advisor Ishaq Khondkar, Advisor Maulana Nizam Uddin Faruk, and District President Advocate Zahirul Alam.Speakers noted that although May Day is observed every year to highlight workers’ demands, these promises often go unfulfilled. Workers are still forced to protest for their basic rights, and at times, face violence for their activism. The speakers urged the government to intervene and ensure the timely implementation of workers’ rightful demands.Various political, labor, and professional organizations held additional programs throughout the day. Leaders of these groups also addressed the gatherings and called for greater respect and justice for workers across the country.
