
NBR forms six-member committee to work on separation of policy and management

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Thursday formed a six member committee to formulate a framework for the separation of the revenue policy and revenue management.
The members are: Tax Administration and Human Resource Management member GM Abul Kalam Kaikobad, Customs and VAT Administration Farzana Afroz, Tax Audit Intelligence and Investigation member Md Alamgir Hossain, Customs Audit, Modernization and International Trade member Kazi Mostafizur Rahman, Tax Legal and Enforcement - Chief Coordinator Barrister Mutasim Billah Farooqui and VAT Policy member Md. Abdur Rouf.
The committee will meet in coordination with the Consultative Committee on Revenue Reforms to adopt an action plan.
Later, in consultation with representatives of BCS (Tax) and BCS (Customs and VAT Excise) cadres, it will meet with the finance adviser to determine the action to be taken.
The finance adviser’s office issued a directive on May 25 to consult with the National Revenue Advisory Committee and key stakeholders to formulate a framework for revenue policy separation as part of the process of implementing the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025 and elevating the National Board of Revenue to the status of an independent and specialized department.
In continuation of this, the committee has been formed comprising the members of the BCS (Customs and VAT Excise) and BCS (Tax) cadres of the National Board of Revenue to coordinate the steps to take forward all related activities.
