One arrested for selling horse meat in Rupganj

A seller named Faiz Mia was arrested while selling horse meat in Sector No. 10 of Purbachal Sub-city of Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj on Tuesday morning.
At that time, 5 slaughtered horses were recovered. A patrol team of Ansar members of Rupganj Upazila conducted a drive, arrested the seller and handed him over to the police station.
According to local sources, while patrolling at Plot No. 5 of Road No. 306 of Purbachal in Rupganj Upazila at around 3 am, Ansar members saw a CNG auto-rickshaw. When the Ansar members saw the auto-rickshaw suspiciously, some people involved in selling horse meat ran away.
Later, when they went to the spot, they found that a gang had slaughtered five horses without any permission and were selling horse meat in different places in the upazila using auto-rickshaws and CNG. They arrested a man named Faiz Mia from the scene. Sensing the presence of Ansars, the rest fled.
The arrested Faiz Mia is the son of Hafiz Mia of Barampara area of Ashtagram police station in Kishoreganj district.
Several locals also said that Purbachal has chosen the suburb as a quiet area. The gang has been selling horse meat in that area for some time. Five horses were slaughtered in a plot on Tuesday morning and their meat was separated. Apart from that, this horse meat was sold to various meat sellers by adding CNG and auto rickshaws. The Ansar members immediately called the national emergency service number 999 and informed the police and handed over the arrested Faiz Mia to the police.
In this regard, Purbachal Ansar Commander Abul Hossain said, "During the night patrol, we saw something suspicious in an abandoned plot in Sector No. 10. Later, we went to the spot and arrested 5 slaughtered horses and one person. The matter was immediately reported to the police and handed over to the Rupganj Police Station. The incident has created a sensation among the locals.
Narayanganj District Assistant Superintendent of Police Mehedi Hasan said, we learned that the person arrested while selling horse meat was a CNG driver. He delivered horse meat to different places through CNG. The person arrested will be produced before the mobile court. Action will be taken against him according to the court's decision.
