Parents' gathering in Jhalakathi on July Revival

A unique and emotional parents' gathering titled 'Mothers of July' was held in Jhalakathi on the occasion of July Resurgence Day on Saturday.
This special event, jointly organized by the district administration and the Department of Women's Affairs, honoured the mothers of the martyrs and injured of the historic July Movement of 2024.
Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the rally. Superintendent of Police Ujjwal Kumar Roy and Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir were special guests.
The event, chaired by Additional District Commissioner (General) Antara Haldar, was attended by family members of those killed and injured in the July Movement, officials from various government departments, journalists, and leaders of political and professional organizations. The speakers said that the July Movement was not just a student movement, but it was a symbolic resistance against dictatorship. This movement reminds us how young souls sacrificed their lives for democracy and justice. The 'Mothers of July' today are witnesses to the immense courage of those martyred children.
In his speech as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman said that today's generation should be informed about the history of the sacrifices of those killed in the July Movement, so that they are inspired to stand against injustice.
At the event, the mothers of the 10 martyrs of Jhalakathi who were killed in the July movement and the guardians of the injured were honored with garlands and flowers. Many had tears in their eyes, while their faces showed a look of pride.
Everyone present at the event stood and observed a minute of silence, and special prayers and supplications were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs.
Family members of those killed and injured in the July protests, leaders of various political parties, government officials, and local journalists were present at the event.
