The arrestees are Karuna Sarkar (53), father of the deceased, and Anita Rani Sarkar (48), his mother. The family had been living as tenants in Dulal’s house in the Lalkha area of Shiyarchar, Fatullah.
OC Shariful Islam stated that Jony was a known drug addict and delinquent. He would frequently assault his parents for money to buy drugs. On the night of the incident (Monday), he reportedly misbehaved with his parents again over money. Initially, he filed a murder case against unknown assailants at the Fatullah Model Police Station. However, after reviewing CCTV footage and conducting further investigation, police discovered the parents’ involvement and arrested them accordingly.
