Poor SSC results in Dohar: 8 schools record zero GPA-5

Secondary schools in Dhaka's Dohar Upazila experienced a major setback in this year SSC examination results, with eight institutions failing to secure a single GPA-5.
Out of 2,369 examinees across 24 secondary schools in the upazila, 1,763 passed, yielding an average pass rate of 74.42 percent. A total of 110 students secured GPA-5 across the upazila.
Daffodils High School topped the upazila's results with a 100 percent pass rate, where all 115 examinees passed and 66 achieved GPA-5. Sutarpara Abdul Hamid High School ranked second with 24 GPA-5 achievers out of 136 examinees, while 112 passed and 24 failed. Begum Ayesha Pilot High Girls' School and College finished third with seven GPA-5 achievers out of 249 examinees, while 50 students failed.
Among other notable schools, Narisha High Girls' School saw six students achieve GPA-5 out of 40 examinees, with two failing. Liberty International School achieved a 100 percent pass rate with all 25 examinees passing, five of whom secured GPA-5. Joypara Government Pilot High School recorded four GPA-5 achievers and 39 failures out of 137 examinees, while Kazi Nazrul Girls' High School also saw four GPA-5 achievers and 38 failures out of 143 examinees.
Furthermore, Muksudpur Girls' High School and Malikanda Meghula School and College each recorded three GPA-5 achievers, with 10 and 39 students failing respectively. Kartikpur High School, Muksudpur Shamsuddin High School, Madhurakhola High School, Latakhola Azahar Ali Memorial High School, and Katakhal Michir Khan High School each recorded two GPA-5 achievers. Narisha High School and Bahra Habil Uddin High School each managed a single GPA-5, while all 23 students from Udayan Preparatory High School passed without securing any GPA-5.
Meanwhile, eight secondary schools recorded zero GPA-5 achievers. At Islamabad High School, 32 out of 98 examinees failed, while Ikrashi Adarsha High School saw 46 out of 98 examinees fail. Other institutions with zero GPA-5 achievers include Emdad Ali High School, Shilakotha High School, Sundaripara High School, Latakhola High School, and Fames International High School, where 29 out of 33 examinees failed.
Initially reluctant to comment, Dohar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Rakibul Hasan later acknowledged the poor outcome, stating that a disastrous result could have been prevented if teachers showed greater sincerity, adding that this year's pass rate is unsatisfactory.
