Water Resources Minister Md. Shaheeduddin Chowdhury Annie, MP, stated that practicing non-violence is vital for establishing peace, harmony, and human values globally, emphasizing that conflicts must be resolved through tolerance, mutual respect, and dialogue.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and cultural event organized by the Gandhi Ashram Trust on Sunday at the Liberation War Museum auditorium in Dhaka, marking the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the International Day of Non-Violence, the minister noted that Gandhi's ideals remain exemplary for building a peaceful and equitable world.
The minister underscored that Mahatma Gandhi led movements rooted in peace, harmony, and non-violence while struggling to build an anti-communal society.
Presided over by Gandhi Ashram Trust Chairman Major General (Retd.) Jiban Kanai Das, the event featured Noakhali-1 Member of Parliament Barrister A. M. Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Kumar Badhe as special guests.
Barrister Khokon urged all individuals to play responsible roles from their respective positions in fostering human welfare, social harmony, and world peace by drawing lessons from Mahatma Gandhi's life and ideals.
