A protest was held in Noakhali protesting the increase in rice prices during the peak season.
Various organizations participated in the program at 11 am on Tuesday in front of the Noakhali District Commissioner's office under the initiative of the Food Security Network.
Speaking at the event were Nurul Alam Masud, Central Secretary of the Food Security Network, Rabiul Hasan Palash, Secretary of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum and Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary of the Krishak Dal, Arafat Hossain, Project Coordinator of SHBO, and others.
The speakers said, despite the current rice season, the price of rice in the country is higher than ever before. As a result, the common people are suffering from food crisis. The ongoing inflationary pressure has made the lives of the common people critical. Aman and Boro have been produced in the country in the last few months. But it has been seen that farmers are not getting the right price for that rice. On the other hand, a group is benefiting themselves by joining the agricultural commodity syndicate. In such a situation, they urged the government to take action against the syndicate, including the formation of an agricultural reform commission.
