Ramgarh BGB destroys drugs worth Tk 3 cr

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed illegal drugs worth about Tk 3 crore recovered at different times on the Fatikchhari-Ramgarh-India border.
Three battalions under Guimara sector conducted raids in different areas of the border and seized these drugs. On Wednesday , these drugs were destroyed as per the rules at the basketball ground of Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB).
BGB officials said that besides ensuring border security, regular operations are being conducted to prevent smuggling and drugs. Such operations will continue in the border areas in the future to implement the government's 'zero tolerance' policy against drugs. They said that besides border security, anti-smuggling operations will be further strengthened to build a drug-free society.
According to BGB sources, from February 2022 to August 31, 2026, the Jaminipara Battalion (23 BGB), Khedachhara Battalion (40 BGB) and Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) under the Guimara Sector conducted raids in various areas of the border. In these raids, a huge amount of illegal narcotics were seized without owners. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is around three crore taka.
Brigadier General Sohel Ahmed, Region Commander of Chittagong Region, was the chief guest at the drug destruction ceremony. Colonel Md. Mizanur Rahman, Sector Commander of Guimara Sector, was the special guest.
Ramgarh Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ahsan ul Islam, Khedachhara Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Muha Shahinul Islam and Jaminipara Battalion Acting Commander Major Md. Moinul Alam along with various BGB officials were present.
