Reforms necessary for free, fair, credible election : Jamaat Ameer
Md. Mafiz Uddin Sarker, Rangpur
Bangladesh Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that reform is necessary to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
He said these while addressing a huge public meeting organized by the Rangpur District and Metropolitan branches of Jamaat-e-Islami at the Rangpur Zilla School Ground on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman indirectly indicated Awami league as fascist and said, “They were the owners of the state, we will be the servants of the people. We do not dream of becoming owners.”
He said, “Those who have cried for 54 years for the oppression of minorities, I call the Almighty Allah as a witness – they are the ones who have looted the property of minorities. We do not consider them as minority-community. Everyone born on the soil of this country is a proud citizen with equal dignity. We will protect the rights that the constitution gives us.”
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We want to build a society without discrimination, where everyone, regardless of party, creed, religion, or caste, will move forward together. We will present our action plan to the nation in the elections. We dream of building a society that the Prophet (PBUH) gave as a gift before leaving this world—where a young woman could travel a thousand miles safely.”
He also said, “Our preparations have begun so that the youth society moves forward honestly and no one can commit any wrongdoing during the elections.”
The main speaker at the event was ATM Azharul Islam, a member of the Central Executive Council and Jamaat’s nominated parliamentary candidate from Rangpur-2 constituency. The special speaker was Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam.
Jamaat's Senior Nayeb Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman, Central Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur region Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Assistant Regional Director Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Regional Team Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, among others, were present as special guests.
Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal ATM Azam presided over the public meeting with the greetings of Rangpur District Jamaat Ameer Professor Golam Rabbani.
It is mentioned that Maulana Abdul Halim announced the names of the Jamaat-nominated parliamentary candidates for 33 seats in Rangpur division at this public meeting.
