The government has earned Tk 25 million, 50 thousand 845 through the lease of 21 government haats in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari for the Bengali year 1432. 

This information has been confirmed in an official letter signed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Zayed Imrul Mozakkin.

The letter mentioned, “The haats and bazaars will be leased for a period from Ekla Baishakh to Trish Chaitra of 1432 B.E.” The matter was also mentioned in the first open tender.

The letter further informed that out of the total 30 haats in the upazila, the lease of 21 haats has been completed and the remaining 9 haats are currently under the lease process. The haats whose leases have not been completed are being managed by a committee formed in accordance with government policies.

A total of 130 bidders participated in the tender process held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on January 30, 2025 through an open tender. However, as the tenders of some of the markets were not acceptable and no tenders were submitted for some markets, their leases were not completed.

The Upazila administration said that the markets are being operated in accordance with the Government Market Management Policy, 2011. Necessary measures have been taken with the help of the concerned police station to maintain security.

In this regard, UNO  Md. Zayid Imrul Mozakkin said, “The lease activities have been conducted with complete transparency and accountability as per the instructions of the Ministry of Local Government. On the one hand, the government has received revenue, and on the other hand, the suffering of the people has also reduced.”

According to the locals, this transparent process and disciplined management are bringing positive momentum to the economic activities of the upazila.
