Sargam celebrates 30th anniv at National Press Club

Monthly Sargam, the country's sole music magazine, marked its 30th founding anniversary and stepped into its 31st year on Thursday through a discussion meeting, cultural performance, and greeting exchange at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Auditorium of the National Press Club in the capital.
The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by veteran musician Muttalib Biswas, artist Hashem Khan, lyricist Shahidullah Farooqi, former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Masud Ahmed, former Director General of Bangladesh Betar Narayan Chandra Seal, Akramul Islam, National Press Club President Poet Hasan Hafiz, and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, alongside other distinguished personalities from the cultural arena.
Addressing the discussion, speakers highlighted that running a monthly publication dedicated exclusively to music for three consecutive decades is a rare and milestone achievement in the nation's cultural sphere. They noted that Sargam has served as a bridge connecting musicians, lyricists, composers, researchers, and music lovers, while preserving the history and heritage of Bengali music.
Popular musical artists including Khurshid Alam, Linu Billah, Karim Hasan Khan, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Rebecca Sultana, Dr. Arup Ratan Choudhury, Ustad Karim Shahabuddin, Yasmin Mushtari, Muntarin Mahal, Narayan Chandra Seal, Ulka Hossain, Rokeya Hasina Nili, Monju Saha, Shirin Sheila, Sheikh Hemayet, and Deepti Rajbongshi performed at the event alongside members of the Sargam cultural troupe.
Expressing gratitude to readers, writers, artists, and well-wishers, Sargam Editor Kazi Raunak Hossain reaffirmed the publication's commitment to promoting music appreciation, highlighting artists' contributions, and documenting the nation's musical history in the years ahead.
