The Combined Journalists Council (Sammilita Sangbadik Parishad - SSP) celebrated its 8th founding anniversary through discussion meetings and cultural performances at the 71 Auditorium of Daffodil Plaza in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Saturday.

Ekushey Padak and Independence Award recipient and Adviser to the BNP Chairman Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Professor Dr. Hamida Khanam of the Department of Zoology at Dhaka University, former Chairman of the Department of Hematology at Bangladesh Medical University Professor Dr. A B M Yunus, Chairman of the Bangladesh National Human Rights Society Md. Manjur Hossain Isa, and SSP Founding President S M Shamsul Alam Khan. SSP President and Editor and Publisher of Dainik Biplobi Janata Md. Golam Faruque Majnu presided over the function.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua stated that journalism serves as the mirror of society, calling on media professionals to uphold professional ethics, objectivity, and truthfulness to safeguard public interest. Presiding Officer Md. Golam Faruque Majnu emphasized SSP's ongoing commitment to professional development, unity, and journalists' welfare, urging members to maintain responsible journalism practices.

Event Convener and SSP Founding General Secretary Md. Jalal Uddin Jewel delivered welcoming remarks, while Cultural and Sports Secretary R K Ripon served as member secretary and Women's Affairs Secretary Nipa Akhtar moderated the session. The discussion was followed by a cultural program featuring musical and dance performances by prominent national artistes.
