In response to the recent security situation at Dhaka University and in anticipation of potential challenges surrounding the upcoming DUCSU elections, the university administration has taken significant and strict security measures.

These decisions were made at a meeting held yesterday, Tuesday  in the office of the Vice-Chancellor, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. 

The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof  Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof  Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof  Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Prof  Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, DIG of City SB Mir Ashraf Ali, DGFI representative Colonel Abdullah, DC of Ramna Zone Md. Masud Alam, OC of Shahbagh Police Station Md. Khalid Monsur, and representatives from NSI and DB.

Decisions taken in the meeting are: A striking force of law enforcement will be deployed to strengthen security on the university premises; search operations will be conducted at the university’s six main entry points from 6 PM to 8 AM through checkpoints,; members of the Ansar and armed police will participate in the search operations alongside the Proctorial Team ; regular drives will be conducted by the police and Proctorial Team to remove vagabonds, and steps will be taken to seek assistance from the Ministry of Social Welfare for rehabilitation : aletter will be sent to the army to increase patrolling around the campus, continuous meetings will be held with student organizations to ensure security ; the number of CCTV cameras across the campus has been increased, broken cameras have been repaired, and nighttime lighting has been reinforced and police activity around Suhrawardy Udyan has been intensified.

Additionally, a letter will be sent to the Ministry of Law to expedite justice in the Samya murder case, and a separate letter will be sent to the PBI to accelerate the investigation into the Tofazzal murder case.

In connection with the recent recovery of cocktails on campus, the security guard on duty has been interrogated, and field-level activities by NSI and DGFI have been further strengthened.

The university administration has sought sincere cooperation from all concerned to effectively implement the security measures taken on campus.
