The orientation class for the new BPEAD 2025 academic year students was held at the Barisal Divisional Government Physical Education College. The new students were welcomed at the program organized at 9 am on Thursday (October 16) at the college auditorium in Barisal Sadar Upazila.
In his speech as the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST), eminent educationist and researcher Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam said, “Physical education is not just an exercise to keep the body healthy; it is a living school of humanity, leadership, self-control and discipline. Education is complete only when the strength of the body and the purity of the mind complement each other. This balance of body and mind in education is the key to personal development, social responsibility and national progress.” He further said, “A true physical educator is not only a success in the sports field, but also plays a role as a beacon of morality and inspiration in society. As a future teacher, your responsibility will be to develop yourself in the spirit of mental toughness and humanity along with physical ability. Because, the influence of a teacher is not limited to the classroom only—it spreads to every level of society.” The VC called upon the students and said, “Along with the practice of knowledge, you should develop character traits, team spirit and moral courage. Just as sports strengthen the body, honesty and sense of responsibility will make your character great. You will be the honest, competent and exemplary teachers of the future.” Barisal District Sports Officer Md. Saidul Islam, college teachers, officials and students were present at the event. At the end of the orientation, the new students were welcomed with flowers.
Overall, the event turned into a lively gathering to inspire, instill discipline, and a sense of responsibility in the youth.
