Three Houses Robbed in a Single Night in Mohipur

A daring dacoity committed in three houses on the same night in Mohipur of Patuakhali. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday (23 August) in Alipur village of Latachapli Union under Mohipur Police Station.
According to local sources, a gang of 6–7 robbers attacked the houses of Mohipur Thana Swechchhasebak Dal’s member secretary Atikur Rahman Milon, as well as the houses of Abul Hossain and Mohiuddin of the same area. The robbers tied up family members and looted valuables and cash.
Local resident Bashir Uddin said, “Around 6:30 in the morning after Fajr prayer, I went to Milon’s house and saw the gate open and the door lock broken. I immediately informed the UP chairman. The owner is currently in Dhaka for treatment.”
Another local, Babu, stated, “Around 2:30 a.m. I patrolled the area with the night guard, and everything seemed fine at that time.”
Robbery victim Atikur Rahman Milon said, “While my family and I were in Dhaka for treatment, the robbery took place at some point around midnight. The robbers looted Tk 6 lakh in cash, 7 bhori (approx. 82 grams) of gold ornaments, and valuables worth about Tk 22 lakh from my house.”
Another victim, Sobahan, said, “Before we realized anything, they beat us, tied our hands and feet, and broke into the cupboard. They took Tk 6,000 in cash and a pair of earrings weighing 6 annas. They threatened us not to inform anyone before fleeing.”
Victim Mohiuddin said, “Around 3:30 a.m., a gang of 7–8 robbers broke into my house through a hole in the wall. They looted Tk 2,500 in cash and a pair of earrings weighing 8 annas.”
Locals reported that three consecutive robberies were committed in the same manner on the same night. Earlier, no breakthrough had been made in the Latifpur Akon house robbery either, which has intensified panic in the area.
Mohipur Police Station OC Mahmud Hasan said, we visited the scene after receiving the news. Efforts are underway to identify the culprits, though no written complaint has been filed yet.
